World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrading of your equipment is a vital aspect of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enchantments of items.
They also offer bonus effects and improvements. The Blacksmith can also sell them to you.
The upgrade button is located on any item. Every recycled item adds one level to the upgrade gauge.
Weapons
When the weapon is upgraded it is granted a base damage bonus as well as a scaling factor that can affect other stats. Some upgrade components have cosmetic effects, while others offer additional attributes. These upgrades can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, gathering tools, and trinkets. They generally require that the equipment is equipped with an upgrade slot and meet certain specifications. The upgrade component can be removed from an armored weapon, weapon, or trinket, but it cannot be replaced. (Except for legendary equipment). Upgrade components can be retrieved through the Black Lion Salvage Kit, Ascended Salvage tool, or a higher-tier salvaging tool on an item.
In addition to the normal upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded by adding an attribute called Calibration that increases certain stats such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. enhance equipment can be done via the Gear Workbench interaction menu. Based on the tier of the weapon it can be done up to four times.
Once the weapon has reached its maximum level of upgrade it can be reforged to add different effects and bonuses or to boost specific stats. These upgrades can be applied simultaneously, and their effects will vary depending on how rare the weapon is.
There are two Blacksmiths in the game that can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area and Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Both upgrade materials differ: Smithing Stones to modify the damage a weapon deals and Somber Smithing Stones to modify the standard weapons.
It is generally recommended to increase the damage of your weapon first, then armour defense, then the other secondary stats that are required by your build. In particular, it's common to see melee druids upgrade their weapon before any other gear, as this can increase DPS. This is especially relevant to enchantments that can be extremely efficient in increasing a weapon's damage and other stats.
Armor

Some upgrades provide specific abilities that can be activated when wearing armor. These abilities can be very useful in combat. For instance they can boost the speed of attack or block. Certain upgrades provide passive effects that are useful for example, the ability to reduce damage while wearing armor or enhancing the chance to dodge an attack.
Upgrades to armor could require multiple attempts, based on the type of armor. For example the case of a player wanting to upgrade an existing Steelclash armor to Dragonscale The first attempt would result in a new piece of Dragonscale with an initial defense range of 59-67. The second attempt would result in a Dragonscale armor with an initial defense range of between 67-77.

Contrary to popular opinion, armor in The Division 2 is not in any way useless. Certain armors give a substantial increase in the ability to reduce the damage caused by poison, curse, magic, or fire. This makes them valuable for certain builds. There are other ways to boost the stats of armor besides upgrading armor, such as using the engineer trait to increase armor penetrating or the challenger trait to decrease the weight of the entire armor.
